Evi was born on 6 July 1965 in Isoko, Delta State (then Bendel State) to the household of Reverend R. O. Ogholirly. She is a divorcee, previously married to her producer and manager Emma Ogosi, the marriage was blessed with two children.

Evi Edna’s songs like Obaro, Happy Birthday, “Oghene Me” and “Look Before You Cross” turned national anthem in Nigeria, a country of 200 million inhabitants immediately the official release of her debut album titled “My Kind of Music” in 1987
